Keeping in view the effectiveness and increasing demand of DNA tests in forensics, a research project "Human Genome Profile of Seven endogamous groups of Haryana at 14 DNA Ioci" was sanctioned by the Department of BioTechnology, Govt. of India in May 1999 with the objectives.

(1) To generate baseline data on forensically significant DNA markers among different population groups of Haryana for use in forensic cases.

(2) To standardise DNA typing techniques according to the local conditions and facilities for implementing the same in routine forensic analysis of blood and other body fluids.

While the Govt. is emphasizing more on the areas of Information and Technology, the laboratory will progress with a much faster speed with the acquisition of latest Hi-tech instruments in addition to increase in manpower to strengthen the Criminal Justice Delivery System in the State of Haryana.
